British Columbia has a long and proud past that is on display throughout the province. Tourists can view wonderfully preserved neighbourhoods and buildings in Vancouver and Victoria. The Gold Rush and boomtown eras come to life in the fascinating towns of Barkerville and Fort Steele. All regions pay homage to their pioneer and Aboriginal past through key heritage sites, many of which are now museums or sites of historic interest and open to the public.
